Pastor Jeremy continues his Ephesians Cruise series on Sunday in Glendive.
The first half of this chapter focuses on:
1. Walking in Love
a. Eph 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as
dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ
also has loved us and given Himself for us,
an offering and a sacrifice to God for a
sweet-smelling aroma.
b. We are told to imitate God and walk in love.
c. Then verse 2 describes to us what “walking in
love” looks like...serve others.
d. A sacrifice will cost you something...but the
benefits of doing so far outweigh the cost.
2. Walking in the Light
a. Eph 5:8 For you were once darkness, but
now you are light in the Lord. Walk as
children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is
in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10
finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
b. Goodness, righteousness, & truth
3. Walking in Wisdom
a. Eph 5:17 Therefore do not be unwise, but
understand what the will of the Lord is.
b. Be filled with the Spirit, give thanks to God, &
submit to one another.
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your
reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that you may prove what is that good and
acceptable and perfect will of God.
The second half of this chapter describes what this
looks like in our daily living...how we can enjoy the
journey by walking in love, light, & wisdom in 3 specific
areas of our lives.
1. Marriage (Eph 5:22-33)
a. Wives honor your husband
b. Husbands love your wife
2. Family (Eph 6:1-4)
a. Kids obey your parents
b. Parents bring your kids up in the training and
admonition of the Lord.
i. Training involves teaching the ways of
god.
ii. Admonition involves an understanding
of consequence. (a result of action)
3. Job (Eph 6:5-9)
a. Employees - labor as unto the Lord
b. Employers - employ as unto the Lord
