Enlightment is to know Jesus personally

Listen Later

Salvation is enlightment
Isaiah 25:
1. O Lord, You are my God;
I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name;
For You have worked wonders,
Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
4. For You have been a defense for the helpless,
A defense for the needy in his distress,
A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat;
It is Isaiah who spoke these words, he spoke them and they are personal speaking the delight of his heart after he realized and so acknowledged Gods great plan of redemption.
If we apply ourselves to understand this verse; let’s use contrast.
• We see Isaiah is enlightened, his eyes were opened to see the light of the Gospel, and this brought great Joy to his heart. This knowledge makes the heart glad.
This enlightment also brought assurance, the Lord knows those who are his 2Tim 2:20. He knew salvation was to come from God as a free gift and that the burden of sin was lifted up from him, he was to be set free from captivity, the release from the prison of the law was imminent. The joy of knowing that the tears, the sorrow and the pain were shortly going to come to an end was so much.
The insight of spending eternity in the bliss and the presence of God was too much for him to comprehend, yet he believed the testimony of the Lord. What a joy to behold?
• The blinding of the unbelievers
This message is foolishness to those who are perishing, 2 Corinthians 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
In fact the world looks at believers as foolish and stupid men. Because the god of this world has blinded them that they cannot see2 Corinthians 4:4
The veil of the law has blinded them too;
7. And he will swallow up on this mountain
The covering that is cast over all peoples,
The veil that is spread over all nations He will swallow up death forever;
Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 2 Corinthians 3:15
Their minds have been darkened by their pride and their delusion with wisdom of this world.
Romans 1:23 professing to be wise they became fools.
Philippians 4:18Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart
To close this matter apply it to yourself
Has the law veiled you?
Are you blinded by the god of this world?
Has your pride of human intelligence, wealth and lust become a stumbling block to see the express Image of the invisible God, our savior Jesus Christ?
No doubt to the faithful, if Isaiah saw it and was Glad so we are with even greater assurance since what Isaiah prophesied is already come, its what we testify. Christ in us.
God bless you.
