A place where it’s okay to be vulnerable, where I’m not afraid of the possible recoil of feelings after expressing my own….should a spouse be or provide a place like this for their significant other? Sharing a few details about this place I’ve found myself in lately when it comes to my role as a mother.

Having someone close to you die is always heavy, but is it the same when a parent dies? In my experience it’s extremely life altering and sometimes others empathy doesn’t necessarily help. Here’s a brief description of my experience thus far. Being an adult doesn’t change the impact of a mother passing, it’s just as devastating as it could have been at any age.

It's easy to get caught up in this idea that perfection is needed in finding a partner while everything around you tells you that whoever you get with needs to "have it all together" in order to be in a healthy relationship. That's not true, that's not even possible. But, when we examine our potential partners it gives us a sense of understanding of how to navigate the potential relationship. Examining helps us decide if we want to be a partner to those we see ourselves in romantic relationships with. Having been told that I’ve been inconsistent by a few that I hold close, I needed this open conversation to ‘navigate’ my honest feelings and thoughts about it. Consistency isn’t always felt by those who aren’t on your path. Find your path, on it you’ll be consistent.
