Gospel Definition (What) • Dr. Shibley’s Gospel Definition: The infinite, transcendent God personally intervened by His grace in our helpless, hopeless condition when we were severed from Him by our rebellion. In love He sent His eternal Son to become a man and pay for our defiance through the perfect sacrifice of His blood. Now, risen and reigning, Jesus offers pardon and eternal life to all who will turn in faith from their sin to His salvation, from their rebellion to His rule, from their futile attempts at self-righteousness to the free gift of His righteousness. • Engage 20/20 Gospel Creed: The Gospel is the Good News that God became Man in Jesus Christ. He lived the life we should have lived and died the death we should have died… in our place.
