Trading in the heart of Cork city centre since 1788, the English Market is a roofed food market in one of the most important heritage buildings in Ireland and is made up of local stallholders and traders, who work together and independently to bring an eclectic mix of fresh, traditional, local and international produce to the people of Cork and beyond. That includes Eoin O’Mahony of O’Mahony’s Family Butchers. A family run craft butchers that specialise in Dry-Aged meats and innovative cuts of meat - located on The Grande Parade Entrance at The English Market market, trading since 1974. O’Mahony’s was started by Eoin’s mum Katherine O’Mahony and since then Eoin and sister Eimear have joined her behind the counter and become integral to the business and are backed by generations of skilled trade. They have been bringing the best local meat to dinner tables in Cork for over 40 years and also supply meat to 20 restaurants in Cork City. Nearly every product you see in O’Mahony’s originates in Munster, and half of those come from their family farm, Ballea Farm. Since we work directly with farmers and suppliers, our supply chain is short and our food miles stay low. By keeping it local, we’re able to serve you meat that’s in season and always at its best. You will always expect to find innovative cuts of meat and a unique offering at O’Mahony’s - they were the first in Cork to stock ‘Macroom Buffalo’ - Buffalo is a sustainable, all natural, locally produced product. A favourite among customers is the very popular ‘Buffalo Burger’. To get your hands on some of their produce visit: O’Mahonys Family Butchers – Old English Market, Cork (omahonysbutchers.com)
