Hey everyone! Welcome to the Polyglot Perspective Podcast with Taylor Torres. I am an American teen who is currently learning both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. I enjoy learning languages because I believe it helps us connect with and better understand our culture and communicate with others on a more profound level. I decided to create the Polyglot Perspective Podcast because it came to my attention that 20% of American students grades K-12 are currently learning a foreign language, the numbers declining each year, being one of the most concerning aspects of the American education system. For this reason, I embarked on a mission to encourage fellow teenagers to learn languages, as not only does it open the door to innumerable cognitive benefits, but also shapes our world view and helps combat the limitless amount of ignorance and prejudice against people of different cultures.  By taking full advantage of this platform, countless teen polyglots from around the world have the opportunity to share their language stories, discuss their passions, the challenges they faced when learning languages, and their newfound cultural appreciation of other cultures as well as their own.
