When you're the technical expert in any field, let alone pavement management or engineering; you've got to remember and understand that you're trustees, citizens, and council members don't know what you know! Remember this phrase...Facts tell stories to sell. You've got to present your case for applying preventive and preservation activities within your communities through a position of education and infotainment. Simply stating the facts, numbers, stats, charts, deduct curves, algorithms, deterioration curves, etc. alone is NOT enough. Help them understand the options, the ROI, the logic behind the application, and how it solves their specific pain points and adds value to the entire community.
