The Miracle on Ice has long been viewed as one of the most iconic moments in the history of American hockey and is one of Team USA’s greatest moments at the Olympics. 

In the 1980 Olympics, Team USA faced the Soviet Union in their pursuit for the gold medal. The odds seemed impossible. The Soviets had gone to the Olympics before and won gold, and had outplayed every team they had faced. In comparison, Team USA was made up of a bunch of collegiate hockey players who had never played together on a team. 

Yet, Team USA did the miraculous and beat the highly favored Soviet Union.
