Ep 04 - Prayer is our Priority

Listen Later

We're excited to dive into a topic that's been on our hearts lately—the importance of prayer. At Connection Point Church, we've made prayer a priority in our mission, and today, we want to share some thoughts on why prayer is not just a church thing but a personal journey that can transform our lives.

So, what is prayer? It's our priority. It's the timeless communication method rooted in Christianity and Judaism, dating all the way back to the Old Testament. It's not just about talking to God; it's about hearing from Him. In fact, Jesus himself emphasized the significance of prayer in the Lord's Prayer, where he prayed for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Why is prayer a priority? Without it, a church, a person, an individual might struggle to navigate life. It's the key to communication with God, filling our spiritual tanks and aligning our lives with His purpose. While other components of spirituality, like worship and reading the Word, are crucial, We've noticed a shift away from a prayer movement in the last 25 years.

Historically, revivals were birthed out of prayer, not worship or dynamic preaching. The Day of Pentecost, the original revival, started with a prayer meeting. Prayer needs to reclaim its place as the main spiritual priority in our lives for us to be fueled by the Holy Spirit, individually and corporately.

At Connection Point, we believe in the power of both corporate and individual prayer. We gather every Sunday for Passionate Core Prayer and have added a Tuesday morning session. However, the hope is that people engage in prayer on their own, mimicking the corporate experience in their personal lives.

It's not just a corporate deal for the church; it's a priority for individuals. We constantly feel the desire for a deeper and more robust prayer life, echoing Paul's words to pray without ceasing—an ongoing conversation with God as we navigate life's twists and turns.

Prayer is an action we choose, a pursuit that goes beyond mere requests. It's about seeking God's will and agreeing with Him, engaging in spiritual warfare through worship and intercession. While worship often reminds us of God's greatness, prayer takes us into a dynamic agreement with His promises.

In our culture, worship has taken center stage, but we need to restore the balance. We must move beyond Sunday and develop a devotional life, spending time with God throughout the week. This is the key to experiencing a dynamic and impactful worship service, where the Holy Spirit can move freely.

Prayer not only tenderizes our hearts but also aligns us with the Spirit's guidance. It goes beyond seeking answers from external sources and allows us direct access to the Father's heart. Our individual prayer lives significantly impact the collective experience in a church setting.

As we aim to be a church that prays, it's our prayer that this emphasis on seeking God in prayer would spill over into the lives of individuals. Let's challenge ourselves to go deeper in prayer this week and witness the Holy Spirit's transformative work in our lives.

Join us in the next episode as we continue our exploration of prayer, delving into how and why we conduct our Passionate Core Prayer sessions. Until then, keep seeking God in prayer, and let's see what amazing things He will unfold in our lives and our church.

Stay blessed
