Ep. 04: "Sacred Grove Moments”

Welcome to Edified! Weekly devotionals designed for busy LDS women who are looking for ways to draw closer to the Spirit and deepen their connection to Christ. Today’s episode is about recognizing our Sacred Grove Moments, and the power they have to strengthen us and lift those around us. I’ll also be sharing some tips for safeguarding our testimonies. 

“Sacred Grove Moments” have four things in common:

• They involve conversion -- or a spiritual upgrade in our depth of understanding relating to a core principle of the gospel.
• They are felt in our heart.
• They are unforgettable.
• They are undeniable. 

Our Sacred Grove moments won’t lead to a world-wide restoration of the gospel, but they can lead to the restoration of our souls. They keep us tethered to Christ.

Testimonies are both dynamic and fragile. If they’re not growing, they’re at risk. They require consistent monitoring and maintenance. If we neglect them, we can lose them. Regardless of how strong our testimony, there is never a bad time for a spiritual upgrade.

Ten Core Truths

1. I am a child of Heavenly parents--a Heavenly Father and Mother. 
2. The Godhead consists of The Father, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Ghost. They are separate, yet united as ONE God. 
3. Jesus Christ is the Firstborn Son of God in the Spirit and the Only Begotten Son in the flesh. 
4. Jesus Christ atoned for ALL the sins of the world. His atonement is infinite and eternal & intimate and personal. 
5. God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove. 
6. God reveals his will to his prophet today, just as he has done in other dispensations. 
7. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. 
8. Priesthood keys were restored to Joseph Smith and remain on earth today. 
9. The Fall of Adam and Eve is essential to the Father’s plan. 
10. We are saved by GRACE. 

Recognizing a weakness or a “hole” in our testimony is not a bad thing, but it does warrant our attention.

"DOT" Invitation

1. Ask yourself if your convictions are in your head only, or also in your heart?  And then ask yourself how you know. 
2. Bear your testimony to yourself. A good time to do this is while you’re driving. 
3. Do the "Core Truths Inventory." Link to free download below.
4. Write down your Sacred Grove moments and be willing to share them when you feel prompted to do so.
