Hello lovely and amazing people...Episode 5 is here! My guest today is Christina AKA DJ Teenie Z, an amazing and strong woman I am happy to call my friend! In this episode, Teenie talks about finding her true passion to become a DJ...after having an "AHA moment" while visiting her brother in Brooklyn, and how she is building her DJ skill set and her business, mix by mix!
We talk all about Music, from our earliest childhood memories in our parent's living room (The Beatles, classic rock, RnB), to our teenage angst years (Nirvana, REM, The Cure) and the joy of making and receiving our first ever Mixtapes. She's influenced by instrumental and experimental hiphop, like Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, The Roots, and J Dilla, to name a few. Teenie is someone who I can honestly say has a whole lot of hustle...and a big heart. She is smart, funny and not afraid to be herself, as she talks about her Greek heritage, growing up as a "restaurant kid" in her father's pizzeria (think '80s movie "Mystic Pizza,") and how those experiences helped shape who she is today. As always, we laugh a lot...about our misadventures on motorbikes in Santorini, did someone say "hernia?", banana nutella crepes, Prince tribute bands, old school '90s Rave Culture...and we get deep on being strong, independent women, the freedom of Riding Solo, and living our lives to the fullest.
