EP 05: Wawira Njiru: On her journey to feeding 1 million children a day, building a sustainable organization, and intentionally growing as a leader.

Listen Later

My next guest is Wawira Njiru, the Founder and Director of Food for Education, a Kenya based social enterprise that provides subsidized nutritious meals every day to over 100,000 primary school children to improve nutrition education outcomes.

She shares with us how Food for Education went from feeding 25 to 100,000 school going children in Nairobi and its outskirts in the past 10 years, and how she is building systems for the work to continue to scale.

We also delve into her experience as a leader and how she intentionally seeks to grow as a leader so that she builds her capacity to handle even greater work. You will enjoy her calm energy and her focus on delivering results amidst all the shiny accolades that come with doing incredible work.

Wawira is the recipient of the 2018 Global Citizen Youth Leadership award and the Builders of Africa award and she was named the 2021 UN person of the year in Kenya.
