Grand Admiral Thrawn (a.k.a. Mitth'raw'nuruodo) is possibly the most widely and enduringly popular Star Wars character that has never appeared in any of the movies. He originated in a trilogy of novels by Timothy Zahn, and has since appeared in comics, further novels, and Star Wars: Rebels.
