In our pilot episode, the curriculum team provides updates across all subject areas as we prepare for DCPs (October 1-3). Topics include: science scheduling protection and hands-on instruction emphasis; social studies 10-2-2 lecture strategy for peer talk integration; IXL math resource launch and admin training (Sept 25th); constructed response teaching focus with 'what' to 'why' questioning strategies; elementary reading updates including Daily Five implementation, small group transitions, and writing sample analysis; and Reading Academy progress with 37 teachers covering explicit instruction methods. The team also addresses STAAR writing data concerns, with up to 30% zero scores in some areas, and introduces tools like Quill and NewsELA for writing support."
