Episode 1 Stop listening to other people
Hey Everyone,
It's Adam and Kerry here. Welcome to the very first episode of the Two Coach Confidence podcast. Our aim with this podcast is to bring fun and interesting guests from all areas and walks of life to share their knowledge, stories and experiences of this mystical and subjective topic we refer to as confidence.
Having both worked with various individuals and teams one thing consistently shows up no matter who you are or what your role is, confidence. In some way that one word has impacted everyone regardless of background, race or religion. A lack of confidence can be debilitating and stops even the best of us from starting to take action towards creating the life we want.
In today's episode we have the pleasure of welcoming Leona Burton to the show. Leona is co-founder and CEO of the fastest growing female networking organisation on the planet, Mums in Business Association (MIBA) with over 250 events worldwide, over 250’000 members globally and 56’000 followers online. At just 2 years of age in 2020, the company has been highlighted on various media outlets, including the BBC over one-hundred times, and have been featured in FORBES.
Leona is a force of nature who is straight talking, no nonsense and to the point. She’s on a mission to empower female entrepreneurs across the globe.
In this episode, we talk about,
How social media plays a role in people's perceptions of what confidence is and the difficulties of being influenced by our interaction with digital platforms.
Leona discusses what her definition of confidence is and how to get more of it.
As a social media expert Leona talks openly about her fear of going live on her own personal Facebook page.
The power of saying no and the challenges and opportunities this can have for an individual's confidence.
We talk about how our external environment plays a huge role in our understanding of what confidence is.
We start to unpack the possible attributes of confidence and how this could help when looking to try and define this subjective topic
Leona shares a variety of experiences including modeling for Gok Wan, wanting to be like J Lo, and who she admires when it comes to confidence.
Leona also discusses how her own journey has played a role in confidence and how our views of confidence can change over time.
It’s safe to say that our first episode was a great learning experience with a host of interesting technical issues to overcome, that aside we couldn’t have asked for a more diverse and broad conversation to kick the show off.
Please Enjoy!
