We're Still Here

Ep. 1 - The Only Two People in Times Square

Listen Later

In the latter half of 2020, 52 percent of actors, 55 percent of dancers and 27 percent of musicians were out of work, according to the National Endowment for the Arts. What happened? The COVID-19 pandemic. We watched it all unfold, standing in Times Square at 3am and realizing we were... all alone. The City that never sleeps was.... sleeping.

This is the first episode of "We're Still Here" a podcast by theatre people, for theatre people. We've designed this series to explore what it's like to be an artist in 2020. In an industry and profession that have been put on "pause" - What have we learned? Where are we going? How do we move forward?

We discuss all these questions and more with artists all around the world- from Broadway to community theatre, we've got ya covered. The goal is to connect the theatre industry during the COVID-19 Pandemic and it's fallout. Your hosts, Kait Russell (@just_kait) and Kade Bailey (@kadebailey) were in Manhattan when Broadway closed it's doors, and have a lot to say about the performing world and how they feel it should adapt in this new landscape.

Pour yourself a drink and help us scream it from the rooftops: We're Still Here.
