Introduces the project, which focuses on history of podcasting and its relationship to platforms, like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, where people listen to their favourite shows or find new ones. Also provides a review of some of the important concepts of podcast studies, and the values that help podcasting stand out from other media forms like radio including intimacy and accessibility. I also introduce the concept of "platformization", where platforms are putting pressure on content creators to conform to their standards and practices through their mechanisms for discovery.
