Recently I asked a question in a songwriting Facebook Group: what are your thoughts and feelings around music theory?
"I could definitely use some music theory skills in order to better communicate with other composers."
"I've not a clue about music theory other than what I learned in primary school via recorder lessons!"
"Music Theory really does scare me"
"I’m untrained, can’t read music etc so I’m blundering around in the dark."
Do you resonate with this? Well, if you do this week's episode is all about a new (better) way to approach music theory.
Having worked with many songwriters over the years as a teacher, mentor and collaborator I noticed a pattern.
Many people shrink away when they think about theory as it feels:
But what if you could learn theory in the context of YOUR OWN music.
Without even having to putting pen to paper?
I believe we can learn all we need to know by listening and visualisation of the keyboard as opposed to pages of lines and dots, numbers and codes.
If you get something from this episode and please come and join me in the Radical Songwriting Facebook Group for more chat, connection and songwriting swag!
