While we’re all locked in our homes; sit back and tune into episode 10 | Being Vulnerable. On this episode VAL. had the pleasure of uncovering @RachelWagner, who is a poet and professor from Cranford, New Jersey.(1:07) In the beginning reading and writing were always Rachel’s favorite subject during school.(1:22) she eventually went to college for writing and found a new found love for fiction writing.(2:05) opening as a writer during college and grad school.(2:39) the pair goes into the age she wrote her first poetry piece.(3:11) she explained why it took her so long to wrote again from the age of 14 years old until college. (3:42) She explained how her family effected her from holding back her creative ability cause of open she wrote. (4:20) Rachel talks about being raised in a polish household family; they’re naturally cold and are porn to with hold their own feelings.(4:55) Rachel opens up in to how her mom oil this day isn't proud about doing hat she's doing lil this day.(5:23) Rachel shares her first experience in her poetry being discovered… which resolved to kicking her out by 14 years old. (6:17) she talks on her walk of independence in her young teenage years and how it was meant to happen for her to become the women she is today. (7:03) VAL. asked if her upbringing with her cold family helped her out pour more in her poetry? Rachel agrees and explains.(7:53) when did you make the decision of being completely venerable and said “F*ck it! I’m going to express how I feel regardless of what people say.”(10:05) Have you ever met anyone through your open mic where you touched someone in the audience and how does the make you feel?(10:55) Rachel never really had anyone to relate to her poems but a lot of her audience have complained her for being so open and how REAL her poetry is.(11:22) VAL asks Rachel how she wrote her first book and what was that process like.( 11:57) when she started she was only on word press before IG came out and eventually she wrote a book in another site.(12:27) last year was when she dropped her first book and now she's on her third release!(13:20) she explains how she didn't wait to release her work!! “My book does not have to be perfect upon the release”(13:56) The pair dives deep in her styles of poetry… stream of conciseness poems.(14:29) the pair talks on a couple pieces of poetry she has written “Pregnant in graduation school” and “Pill Popin’ animal.”(15:28) why should i hold my voice or my experience back if they haven't gone through what I have? I’ve already gone through it so what do people have to say about me after my pieces?.. (16:33) You think people are going to judge you for being vulnerable in your creative craft when majority of the case… People don't care and will support you no matter what! (19:00) in college she talks on how she fell involve with writing again as she noticed more and more people appreciated writing in college classes.
