Hello everyone, welcome to another episode of Expat Coffee Break, a podcast dedicated to sharing personal experiences of immigrants and telling their stories about living abroad.
My name is Javier, and in this episode, I will share my experience making new friends in Minnesota and what it was like for a Mexican to live the American Midwest Culture.
Was it hard? Was it easy? How did people react to having a Mexican around? Did I blend in? Did I even tried to blend in? chuckles.
Like I mentioned in previous episodes, I was somewhat familiarized with American culture, but most of what I’ve seen growing up was the Southern part of California, which has a warm weather most of the time and has a huge Hispanic population, heck, it was hard for me to speak English whenever I visited my family in California. But in Minnesota, that is part of the United States Midwest, I got to live a quite different experience.
I will talk about my experience making friends in Minnesota, embracing the outdoor activities like fishing and camping, and overall, what is my experience meeting new people.
Spoiler alert, it has been a great experience, I can´t complaint, except, maybe for the snow.
With my story and sharing the experiences that you don´t usually know about until you have already moved, I hope to assist in making a more educated decision to whoever is interested in immigrating to the United States, whether it is with a Professional Career and Working Visa, or trying to build up from scratch.
Whether you are considering immigrating to the United States and want to learn more, or just looking to learn about the USA from an immigrant´s experience, this podcast is for you.
