Ep 10 // The ADHD Entrepreneur Series: Learning to Leverage Your Crazy Genius Brain

Listen Later

Because nobody actually talks about this shit.

Hi, I’m Christie and I have ADHD. (No, not the 20-30 year old self-diagnosis to take Adderall kind of ADHD.) Like the diagnosed by doctors when I was 17 years old kind.

Honestly, having ADHD wasn’t really that big of a deal to me or something that affected my life that much when I was in college or in my first corporate job. But when I began my online business? Oh fuckin’ boy. It was like instead of 2 distracted children in my brain, I had 17 screaming children in my brain all trying to make me pay attention.

Looking back, I realize that my symptoms shifted so rapidly because I went suddenly from total structure and someone telling me what to do, how to do it, by when, and what I would get in return… to suddenly having to be like 5 different people in order to run a business, still be creative, plan ahead, have a social life, make money, pay my bills, etc.

That’s not even easy for a neurotypical person.

Over the last four years of entrepreneurship I’ve learned the hard way that most people’s normal version of what it takes to create an online business - DOES NOT WORK FOR ME. (I tried hard, I really did.)

And I’ve also learned, it’s still a super taboo subject and I honestly rarely see people talking about it on my Facebook feed or Instagram; anddddd every single woman that ends up being attracted to working with me inevitably, has it too (either diagnosed, self diagnosed, or acknowledges her brain works in similar ways ).

The intention of this series is to share what I’ve learned, give you my best tips and pieces of advice for how to wield this incredible SUPERPOWER your brain has to create massive success (consistently, lol), and to hopefully help my other fellow crazy genius brain ladies, not feel so damn alone.

AND OH YEAH, I’LL ALSO BE TALKING ABOUT THE PODCAST NAME CHANGE.

Which of course, is the 4935834 time I’ve changed it because hey - my ADHD brain is always moving on to something newer, and shinier, and I’ve learned how to work with that rather than make myself feel bad for it and want to give you all permission to do the SAME!

(I’ll also be sharing some strategic tips on how to pick a name that actuallly won’t need to change over time - aka pick a name that’s based on the one thing that never changes about you rather than naming your brand after “chapters” of your personal evolution like I did.)

Hey, I make my mistakes and share them so you all don’t have to ;P

Over the coming days I’ll be releasing more episodes in this series (until well, my adhd brain gets bored and fascinated by something else.)
