Hey there! A client recently asked me if self-reflecting and analyzing the past is beneficial. It’s a great question, and the answer isn’t straightforward. In coaching, we focus on looking forward with hope and the belief that you have the power to change. Reflecting on the past can sometimes lead to dwelling on it, but it’s also useful for processing trauma and understanding behaviours.

Effective coaching is all about setting goals, planning, and staying focused. Self-reflection is key when celebrating achievements because it helps build confidence and momentum. However, too much reflection without a clear purpose can hold you back, creating a comfort zone that stifles growth. That’s why I recommend journaling. It’s a powerful way to process your thoughts and feelings and gain an external perspective.

If you find yourself stuck in the past, journaling can help you release those thoughts and refocus on your goals. Documenting your journey provides clarity and motivation to move forward.

Take a moment to reflect on your current goals and how you plan to stay on track. Remember, contemplating your next steps is already a sign of progress. Stay focused, keep pushing forward, and write down three things you want to focus on after journaling to maintain your momentum.

Give it a try, and I’ll see you next week!
