Kahila has been building resiliency since her time as a teen when she and her family moved from Iran to the United States taking on learning a new language and culture. Moving forward in life despite changes or challenges is something she's learned from her parents. When her mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer, Kahila became her caregiver and witnessed how increasing positive emotions supported their experience with the diagnosis.
