📖 Matt 6 1-4 TPT 

Examine your motives to make sure you're not showing off when you do your good deeds, only to be admired by others; otherwise, you will lose the reward of your heavenly Father. 2 So when you give to the poor, don't announce it and make a show of it just to be seen by people,[a] like the hypocrites[b] in the streets and in the marketplace.[c] They've already received their reward! 3 But when you demonstrate generosity, do it with pure motives and without drawing attention to yourself.[d] 4 Give secretly and your Father, who sees all you do, will reward you openly.

 

Its about the heart condition not keeping the law. 

 

LIVING WORD SERIES

Welcome to these "Word by Heart" devotionals. They were recorded during the 2020 Covid-19 lock-down and it is hoped they will stir up a deeper love of Scripture and a greater hunger for God's presence in your life, whether in or out of times of crisis.

They consist of some of Jessica's favourite Bible stories and passages, and most centre around Jesus' Sermon on the Mount as found in Matthew.

We have decided to share in the order in which they were recorded during Lock Down, rather than the Biblical order. They build one on the other, as Jessica leads you through some of the insights that she gained during the process of memorising and verbally presenting them to audiences over the past few years.
