Perceptions in hospitality are often inaccurate — and that’s where real connections begin.

On this episode of unhospitality, Patricia Herrera, a.k.a. Patty Yankee, walks us through some of her more memorable experiences in this industry.  

She confides that she can be quick to build perceptions from LinkedIn profiles, email exchanges, or general assumptions. But she soon learns that those perceptions can be wildly off. 

For expample, she was shocked when making sales calls in Brazil by a client who shared their love for NYC hip-hop and street art, despite never having been.  

And speaking of street art, Patty shares the story of brilliant client who spun a hotel construction project into an interactive art installment, converting a near disaster into a centerpiece of her client’s experience.
