Both Jake and Mike grew up in the state but have spent a combined over 30 years in Asia, specifically China and Japan. They share unique perspectives on the distinction between the Western and Eastern Cryptocurrency space and blockchain communities. In our conversation, we cover topics including cryptocurrency and bitcoin cash adoption in Asia, community building in Japan, and main differences between the West Coast in the US and Asia Cryptocurrency communities and culture. Jake Smith is an advisor to Bitcoin.com. He has spent extensive time in China and Japan, and previously worked with all the large figures in Asia Crypto, including Li Xiaolai from INBLOCK and Jihan Wu of Bitmain. Fun fact, he also spent a number of years living in the Crypto Castle in San Francisco. Mike Malley is an advisor to Bitcoin.com. He previously worked as a product manager at Bitcoin.com on the wallet and block explorer teams. He has been involved with Bitcoin since late 2012 and working in the industry since 2015. His background is in philosophy, psychology, user experience, product, and business development. Both Jake and Mike currently live in Tokyo and produces a Youtube channel with Roger Ver on promoting Bitcoin Cash.
