I interviewed the founders of Austin’s very own interactive art space known as Mesmerize. We talked about their journey to opening their doors, amidst the pandemic, and what they learned along the way. This was a more important time than ever for people to have somewhere to go to let their minds explore. Building Mesmerize also gave Clay & Mateo somewhere to focus their energy and the product is truly remarkable. Clay & Mateo have done an amazing job at figuring out the solutions to making it work, and also adapting to create a safe place for people to go instead of just waiting. • This partnership is made up of two childhood friends that reconnected after years in the music & production industries. When they teamed up with Native Hostel to display art installations for their parties, they decided to find a way to scale in order to share this with more people, and make it sustainable. Now in 2021 they have some big plans.
