In the popular history of Colonial America there are certain colonies and groups we have all become very familiar with. Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay, the Puritans, the Pilgrims, the Mayflower. What about the lesser known people and places? What roles did they play? Is there any value in exploring their stories? In this episode we will introduce Saybrook Colony. An early English colony that was birthed out of the Massachusetts Bay colony and played a significant early role in the New England region. The location and the people associated with it make it a fascinating storyline. One often overlooked. Saybrook was a small colony with a short life but a big impact on the entire region.
