Ep 12. - Self Care Practices for Runners

In this episode I am sharing some strategies for self care as runners and why this is important for people like us!

I have also introduced another concept - self soothing (or self comfort) - which is slightly different but complementary to self care.

Some of the self care practices I mention include:

  • Eating a nutritious diet
  • Sleep enough
  • Recovery including stretching, foam rolling, epsom salts baths, sports massage
  • Meditation and mindfulness
  • Staying connected with friends and family
  • Rest and taking time off
  • Get injuries treated early

Self soothing/comfort ideas:

  • Treating yourself with something yummy
  • A luxurious or fancy drink like a decadent glass of wine or epic smoothie
  • Pedicure, reflexology and/or foot massage
  • Cuddling with pets
  • A TV or social media binge
  • Buying fresh flowers or indoor plants for your home or office
  • Singing in the shower
