"What is one gift you will never forget? A special thanks to the attendees at WinterGrowth Adult Day Program sent in some great responses. Today we chat about gifts and how they can be a powerful way to love an older person. Gifts can be especially helpful in four situations:

1. When you have a difficult relationship/baggage
2. When you don't know the older person that well 
3. When you're not in a good spot emotionally or mentally to have meaningful conversations (medical school, motherhood, health issues of your own)
4. When you don't speak the same language (maybe our grandparent speaks Chinese and you don't speak a lick)
