Axe Murder March plunges on, Part 2 is coming in hot, and we're making it a 3-parter for the story of the Borden Murders and the accusations levied against Lizzie Borden, she of "40 whacks" fame. This week, we explore the pre-forensic era investigation into who could have killed Andrew and Abby Borden, and the official inquest into the crime itself.

Witness a cavalcade of Fall River locals, Borden family members, and frustrated District Attorneys go back and forth attempting to establish a factual timeline for the events of August 4th, 1892 - a day that saw two prominent members of the Fall River community brutally hacked to death by person or persons unknown. It all culminates with the multi-day testimony of Lizzie Borden herself, swiftly becoming Person of Interest #1 and offering up a frustrating array of half-truths, vague responses, and outright contradictions that will eventually end with her charged with double homicide. And meet some new characters who will only become more important next week: DA Hosea Knowlton, a Teddy Roosevelt-type plain dealer, and his counterpart, defense attorney Andrew Jennings - known both for his shrewd intellect and fly dance moves.

The summer is hot and the tea is scorching, so settle in for an examination of the petty grievances family and friends can have with each other...and how they can lead some to possibly be capable of murder. In part 3 next week, we'll finally tackle Lizzie's trial and the aftermath of the infamous double killing.
