There are over 850,000 registered sex offenders in the United States, which amounts to roughly 2.64 per 1,000 people (about 0.26% of the total population). While estimates vary slightly by source, registered sex offenders make up a small portion of the overall U.S. population, often cited as roughly 235 to 264 per 100,000 residents.

•Total Numbers: Estimates range from 800,000 to 850,000 registered individuals. 

•State Variability: Oregon has one of the highest rates, with 790 per 100,000 residents, while New Jersey has one of the lowest, at 50 per 100,000.
