Bugey is a wine region in east central part of France just east of Beaujolais. It’s small in size and production with only a little over 1200 acres of vines and about 4 million bottles of wine produced each year. Bernard & Marjorie Rondeau Bugey Cerdon - priced around $22.

• This wine has a fruity and fresh nose of strawberries, minerality plus hints of cherry and yeast.
• It’s medium sweet with medium plus acidity and it’s tangy with delicate flavor of cran-raspberry
• The bubbles are soft and although this wine is sweet it’s still crisp which is what you want in a sweet wine
• Great for hot days on the patio and then some thanks to the low alcohol at 8% ABV

La Cueille Bugey Cerdon - priced around $25.

• The nose on this wine is more mineral driven almost like licking a wet rock but also aromas of candied sour cherries, strawberry and not as fruity as the first wine
• This wine is less sweet and less acidic than the first wine with more concentrated, mellow flavors of cran-raspberry with a touch of honey

Maison Angelot Bugey Mondeuse 2016 priced around $16. 

• Deep ruby colored wine with aromas of blueberry jam, black pepper and a hint of dusty earth
• It has medium body, acidity and tannins with flavors of sour cherries, blackberry and dusty earth
• This wine is very unique - it was difficult to describe
• We thought pairing it with some fatty food helped the wine to shine more
