Ray Fauteux grew up in Vancouver, BC and now resides in Calgary, AB, Canada.

A heavy drinker and smoker for much of his youth, Ray was inspired by the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal to take up the sport of running at the age of 27. The completion of his first marathon the following year was the beginning of a career in endurance racing that would last over three decades. During that time, Ray completed over 30 marathons, 2 fifty-mile running races, countless 10km races, and 11 Ironman Triathlons.

Through his "Ironstruck" website and inspirational books, Ray has inspired hundreds - if not thousands - of people around the world (including yours truly) to take on the challenge of the Ironman.
