How important is originality in literature?
Better yet, does the damned thing even exist?
Teen dystopia went from a cool concept to an entire genre of its own across mediums. Cyberpunk: once an overexposed aesthetic, now delayed meme of 2020. Time and again, we’ve seen ideas redone, remixed, remade, or straight up copypasted. But is that such a bad thing?
Originality is easy to define, but hard to find examples of. Hell, we couldn’t even make the topic hyperspecific for this episode. With that being the case, then, is retreading old ideas truly a cardinal sin? Does originality in its purest form really matter?
