Alice Diamond was the Queen of shoplifting, if there ever was one. While The gang of the Forty Elephants, sometimes also referred to as The Forty Thieves was started by Mary Carr, it was their 2nd queen who organized the army of women into a successful enterprise that ran South London in the 1900’s. Maria gives us a brief overview of Mary, Alice, and the Elephants up until World War I.
