May we be people who hunger after purity in the motivations of your hidden hearts
"When you fast, don't look like those who pretend to be spiritual. They want everyone to know they're fasting, so they appear in public looking miserable, gloomy, and disheveled.[o] Believe me, they've already received their reward in full.17–18 When you fast, don't let it be obvious, but instead, wash your face[p] and groom yourself and realize that your Father in the secret place is the one who is watching all that you do in secret and will continue to reward you openly."

Welcome to these "Word by Heart" devotionals. They were recorded during the 2020 Covid-19 lock-down and it is hoped they will stir up a deeper love of Scripture and a greater hunger for God's presence in your life, whether in or out of times of crisis.
They consist of some of Jessica's favorite Bible stories and passages, and most center around Jesus' Sermon on the Mount as found in Matthew.
We have decided to share in the order in which they were recorded during LockDown, rather than the Biblical order. They build one on the other, as Jessica leads you through some of the insights that she gained during the process of memorizing and verbally presenting them to audiences over the past few years.
