You might look at someone whom you see as successful and as "how did they get so lucky?" Luck is often a matter of pointing yourself in the right direction and being willing to take more shots at the goal than anyone else.
Instead of asking why they are so lucky, ask yourself what they did to get the results they got then analyze how you can do likewise.
This is something I do a lot of in my coaching work. I help people first figure out what direction the goal is in, then I help them discover what resources they have that they're not putting to use. I also teach them additional tools and techniques to grow their business.
