Ep# 14.5 Summered Too Close to the Sun

Listen Later

Annnnnnnnnd we're back! After starting the summer off strong, we may have flown with our goblin wax wings a little too close to the heavens and came crashing back down to Earth. Literally. Don't worry, the Goblin Squad has recovered and is BACK! Join us for another in-between episode as we recap where the hell we've been and share a little more of what's to come in "Season 2" of your fav podcast ;-) Oh yeah, and another thing....

GOBLIN SCOUT CHALLENGES ARE HERE!!

You may remember in previous episodes we soft-launched "The Goblin Scouts" in which you, our fantastic moss-covered listeners, sent in images of you or your loved ones doing goblin activities or sharing your goblin hobbies. If you are listening to this episode and thinking to yourself, I have no idea what they are talking about...GO BACK and listen to the rest of season one. As promised in this week's episode, here is a list of the current Goblin Scout Challenges:

'For the Birds'

Identify 10 different birds in your area

  • Tip, use the Merlin app (not sponsored) to help with identification
  • It can be hard to photograph birds in the wild, so if you're able to get the pics, that's awesome! But if you can't, don't worry, you can send us the Species name, date, and county location where you saw it. You can type up your list or take a pic of your list and send it to us!
  • 'A Stone Called Steve Austin'

    Find a Hagstone (aka Adderstone)

    • Usually found by water (seashore, lakeshore, dry river beds) - a Hagstone is any type of stone with a naturally occurring hole all the way through it.
    • Note - Hagstones are amazing protection amulets and can be worn on a string around your neck or carried in your pocket to ward against negative energy.
    • 'Faer BnB'

Find a fae or haunted building or structure in the forest

      • Okay goblins, safety notes need to happen first. Common sense applies with this challenge. Do not do anything illegal or dangerous while attempting to complete this challenge. This is meant to be fun and in no way terrifying or life threatening. All state and local laws apply. Do not trespass to complete this challenge or put yourself in harm's way. We have to say it, but the Goblin Squad is not liable for your decision making here. Be Goblins, Not Gremlins.
      • To complete this challenge, find a stick structure, fairy ring, mossy hollow in a tree, driftwood shelter, or any other locale that could be occupied by either faeries or ghosts out in the forest and send us a pic. We are flexible on this one! So when in doubt, send us a DM.
      • '2 Craft, 2 Curious'

Use a foraged item in a recipe, craft, or work of art

        • Here are some ideas, but if you want MORE ideas, make sure to go back and listen to Episodes 11 and 12 for a foraging two parter: Make fried dandelions, a mushroom tincture, dry some flowers, make herb bundles, do some natural clothing dye, whatever your little foragey heart desires. And then tell us about it! Remember, again, safety first. Do not consume anything that you are not 100% certain is edible and safe for you to consume during the course of this challenge.
        • You can submit your completed challenges via DM on the socials or if that's not your thing, send us an email! [email protected]

COMPLETE ANY THREE of these challenges by October 31st, 2023 and we will send you your very own Goblin Scout Challenge pin three pack. After the challenge deadline, these free pins are going to be transfigured into some other goblin scout perk and will no longer be available via the challenge so get on it!

And until next time, Goblins, you know what to do....STAY WEIRD!

          Love,

          Brooke & Sarah
