Kate Hills is a designer and buyer for the textile & apparel industry by trade, and now she is the CEO of Make It British – an organisation that’s been giving a voice to businesses that manufacturer in the UK since 2011.
In this latest episode of The WTiN Podcast, Hills talks about how her own trade show – Make It British Live! – has been postponed and how a virtual trade show may replace it. She believes digital events are going to play a big part moving forward; they allow for more than one event to be held each year and for a wider audience to participate.
Elsewhere, she chats about how Covid-19 may help boost British manufacturing. Although the UK may not have the capacity or skills to fill China’s boots, for example, the UK is good at making high-quality, low-quantity products, and hopefully the industry will be valued a lot more post-pandemic.
Additionally, she mentions Make It British’s latest survey, the financial support available for businesses and how the UK could soon be supplying the National Health Service (NHS) with PPE once again.
