This week, we waded into the expansive waters of presence—a concept that sounds deceptively simple yet unfolds into countless dimensions the moment you start examining it. Presence with ourselves, with others, with the world around us—each feels distinct, yet they overlap in fascinating, sometimes messy ways.
In our conversation, we tried to ground this elusive idea in lived experience: what conditions actually allow us to feel present, and what patterns tend to pull us away? We noticed how easily the hum of overthinking can drown out a sense of “being here,” and we questioned whether presence is even best defined by mental awareness at all. Is it focus? Is it connection? Is it simply noticing the texture of life as it unfolds?
As you’ll hear, we didn’t land on a single definition—nor did we want to. Instead, we circled through different entry points, sharing the ways presence shows up and slips away in our own lives. Our hope is that these reflections spark your own, and that together we might practice presence not as a fixed state to achieve, but as an evolving relationship to the moment itself.
