Paul Bernardo started his crimes in Scarborough, Ontario in 1987. He committed vicious rapes around the city for years without capture. He was targeting teenage girls and young women who were taking the bus home late at night or walking alone on the streets. He met a girl named Karla Homolka that same year and slowly the two started to escalate these crimes together.
