Justin Trudeau and the federal Liberal party float the idea of granting themselves complete control over the country’s finances. In other words, parliamentary approvals would be void in such matters and this minority government can call the shots. The party reportedly pulled back this proposal, but it is still interesting how the notion arose in the first place. We discuss the implications of such an idea and why they should be avoided in absence of dire straits.
