Movies, they follow a formula, something called the heroes journey but mostly speaking they are neatly wrapped up with the big obstacle being overcome anywhere between 86 and 186 minutes. Which in life is just not going to happen!
Whatever we have to overcome will take a hell of a lot longer that a couple of hours, and instead of watching from the sidelines and getting to see it all come together in this ammount of time, we are experiencing the ups and down firsthand, and those down can last for a good while!
For the most part we are able to separate fact from fiction, tell ourselves "it's just a movie" but as film moves into creating more relatable, realistic or "based on a true story" productions the line between "it's just a film" and "why's it not like that in MY life" is becoming increasingly blurred.
