Grounded Wildness

EP. 16 - It's Probably Not You

Listen Later

When something goes a little awry, do you automatically feel like you must have done something wrong? You must have said the wrong thing, offended someone, or hurt someone's feelings? You must have made a mistake or missed something? Your rational brain is saying, "No, it's not your fault" - but your inner critic is saying, "It's totally your fault! You must have done something terrible!"

I had this experience recently. I went down the inner critic rabbit hole thinking it must be me. After stewing there for a while, I took a different approach -- and that made all the difference. I wanted to share my takeaways with you, including:

  • How to decipher between the inner critic and the rational brain
  • When the inner critic tends to step in -- and how to notice that for yourself
  • The #1 key to quieting the inner critic when you feel like it's all your fault
