It's no secret that the Covid-19 scare has everyone on edge. People everywhere are on high alert, and for valid reasons. But of course, we know we can't control what happens, only how we respond to it.
At times like these, I'm reminded of the great serenity prayer -
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
To access serenity, courage, and wisdom... we MUST activate our relaxation response and override the fight or flight response.
There's no other way.
Whether you've been directly affected by this virus, or have a fear that it will impact your life in some way (health, travel, business) ...
I want to share with you this mindfulness exercise that I created for my community.
WHY?
Here's what we know about fear-induced STRESS -
* It will lower your immune system, thus reduce your ability to fight off an invading organism.
* It will activate your fight or flight response, and ultimately lead to more conflict
* It will shut down your ability to access creative solutions to perceived threats.
* It will make you feel like shit and cause you to sleep too much or too little.
---- Here's what to expect during this episode ----
* Activate the relaxation response which SHIFTS you out of stress hormones and into healing hormones
* Help you bring mindfulness into your greatest fears
* Help you access your creative centers to reflect on solutions
I hope you like it!
