Have you ever held back tears or anger in your life?
I know I have, but eventually it's better for our emotional and physical health to let them flow through, so eventually they can move past, and in the process heal us long-term, both mentally and physically.
When we hold emotions inside, they have so much power, even if we don't know it.
Even the power to make us physically sick years later. Because our subconscious can hold on forever to our emotions... like hate, anger, guilt, or regret.
Eventually, possibly manifesting in physical illness. Our emotions also can affect how our lives turn out... if we act against or suppress our emotions.
What we resist, persists. So our denied emotions can keep coming back, or even worse, lie dormant in our subconscious, and still have an effect our physical well-being indefinitely.
So be sure to take time, to let emotions in and then let them out, by crying, mourning, feeling, or any other way that works for you, even if you can't express them in the moment.
It's so important to not just control our emotions at times, but also to not take others' behaviors personally. If we act with our emotions leading the way, we might act like a child when she does something "wrong." We want to communicate from a place of clear and calm thinking, and not out of anger.
Eventually, though, it's imperative that we allow time to let it all go, pass through us and on its way, away from us.
Let's stop often and contemplate on what we need to let go of... for our sake and well-being.
