Ep. 166 - Mob Mentality: Marion

Listen Later

In 1919, Marion became an all-white community overnight when a mob intimidated more than 200 black families into fleeing the city. The unrest began with the murder of a white woman and police insistence that the killer must have been black. Though the case went unsolved, Marion became one of six communities in Ohio known as "sundown" towns for efforts to stop black families from locating there. www.ohiomysteries.comf[email protected] www.patreon.com/ohiomysteries www.twitter.com/mysteriesohio www.facebook.com/ohiomysteries Music: Audionautix- The Great Unknown The Great Phospher- Daniel Birch
