On June 23, 1984, an unnamed 25-year-old woman was walking in the Bronx. She stopped at a convenience store and on her way out noticed someone was following her. Her attacker put a box cutter to her throat and forced her into a blue and white Grand Prix. He drove her until his car broke down, pulled her into an empty park and assaulted her - she was badly cut and beaten, and before she lost consciousness, she heard the man's voice and saw the back of his head as he walked away leaving her for dead.
Alan Newton was arrested and convicted of this horrific crime. Listen to hear the story of his wrongful imprisonment, his resilience, the unwavering love and support of his family, and his long overdue release thanks to the help of The Innocence Project.
