Ep. 175 - Dominic Sessa "The Holdovers"
Dominic Sessa is making his feature film debut in THE HOLDOVERS, directed by Oscar winning filmmaker Alexander Payne.
THE HOLDOVERS follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them -- a damaged, brainy troublemaker (Sessa) -- and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
The film is nominated for three Golden Globes including Best Picture, Best Actor for Giamatti, and Best Supporting Actress for Joy Randolph. It also has been named as one of the top 10 films of the year by the American Film Institute and the National Board of Review. Sessa is nominated for Best Young Actor at the Critics Choice Awards, in addition to its' nominations for Picture, Director, Actor and Supporting Actress among several others.
